New Job - New Opportunities
Starting up a new business in a new area takes some time and although my business is steadily building I realised I needed to have a regular income in order to live comfortably so I have returned to nursing in a casual capacity.
My mother was in a hostel before going in to a nursing home and a fellow resident could often be heard crying out in distress. This lady had apparently experienced time in a Concentration Camp and now with her dementia, often thought she was back there. This got me thinking about Post Traumatic Stress untreated affecting people with dementia and I started looking on the web and found that this is starting to be looked at (some studies coming out of USA).
This then got me to wondering about the Be Set Free Fast technique assisting the elderly and how I might get an opportunity to investigate this.
I asked on the Be Set Free Fast Therapist online conversation where as an Authorised Trainer I regularly contribute. Another therapist informed me that he had had great success with his father who has dementia and so my mind has been percolating on this since.
The job that I have been so fortunate to gain is with RSL (Returned Soldiers League) Life Care, this is a casual nursing position in Aged Care where one works in the community. It involves driving all around Tweed Heads, Kingscliff, Chinderah, Pottsville and at times Murwillumbah (yes, often with splendid sea views), delivering nursing care – medications and dressings etc. – to veterans or their spouses. Ideally, keeping the folk able to live in their homes rather than have to go into nursing homes.
What interesting stories these folk have to share! I am really enjoying getting to know these people as I work with them.
I am already noticing anxiety is a problem for some. I believe I will be able to offer them some strategies to assist them, possibly even (em)Be Set Free Fast(/em), once I get to know them a little better.
I was certainly using the technique for myself as I drove up the highway to work the first few days when I started on my own! All assessed and funded, each visit has a timing allowance for the duties involved, so trying to keep within this timing and find my way to the next place when this is completely unfamiliar territory, was quite stress inducing!
Also the responsibility when you are on your own! Fortunately the other RN’s have all been through this when they started so are totally understanding and supportive of where I am at.
This is a small team made up of two males and five female Registered Nurses and I have been made very welcome. We also have Enrolled Nurses and trained Carers who assist. The Office is at Chinderah so a 40 minute drive down the highway for me, but this is such a beautiful drive with Mt Warning as the backdrop and the pretty countryside, it is a joy to drive there! I do love that drive! I think I’ve become a Paradise Junkie!
Still Open for business as usual
Meanwhile my business has taken a bit of a back seat (though I am still seeing people - so pick up the phone and give me a ring if you need an appointment) while I get used to the new job. Once I have it all happening more easily, this job is a perfect arrangement as it is only half a day, which leaves the other half for client appointments!
Poor little Zoe (my dog) has not appreciated being left in charge of the house for such long and regular stints and I get a great deal of loving bestowed on me the moment I walk through the door!
Byron Bay - stay tuned!
I am looking at an offer of renting a space with a Naturopath in Byron Bay for a day a week. A lovely room in the Arts & Industrial Estate.
We are just about up to the shortest day and the weather has been cooler here with heating required after dark.
Universal Love
As my regular readers will know I am big on Universal Love and I recently bought a little box of beautiful sayings regarding Love. So I am going to offer a quote each Newsletter. The quotes are from Tony Carmine Salerno who also creates beautiful Cards with beautiful artwork for inspiration, if you are into that sort of thing. He is a fellow Australian too!
So here’s the one I just picked at random:
“The quality of your thoughts
equals the quality of your life experience
Thoughts are living energies
that have an enormous influence
on what you attract into your life
Think love and that is what you will attract.
(Tony Carmine Salerno)
As always, I love to hear from you and any thoughts that you might have.
Until next time, live life courageously, it’s truly such an adventure! Leap and the net will appear!

Mini Meditation #4
Follow your Breath
Take a deep breath in and out
Follow it with your mind
Focus only on the breath and nothing else
Breathe to the count of five, into your navel… and to the count of five out…
You can breathe and notice the breath at the same time…
